What’s Weight Loss Surgery Cost?
Gastric bypass
Gastric bypass is slightly more expensive than other surgeries, but it’s one of the oldest and most practiced weight loss surgeries around. Best of all, it helps even extremely obese patients whereas other surgeries will require those patients to lose a little bit of weight before doing them.

What Causes The Cost Variance?
What state you’re doing it in (or if you’re doing it overseas!)
Which surgeon you go to: There’s no real correlation between price and skill of the surgeon; however, a better known and trusted surgeon will likely cost more.
Your insurance: Some insurance policies will cover part or all of gastric bypass surgery. However, if you don’t have insurance or if your insurance doesn’t cover it, your cost will be significantly higher.
Complications: This isn’t something that can be predicted, but complications after surgery could cause serious cost increases. Insurance usually covers these, however, especially if insurance has already covered the procedure.
Remember: if weight loss surgery is going to add years onto your life, please consider it! Even if the costs are high, weight loss surgery could be the thing that helps you live a healthier, well-balanced life.
